Job Title: Outside Sales Representative
Department: Retail Stores
Reports To: Store Manager and Assistant Manager
General Description Sells products for distributor to business and industrial establishments or individuals at sales office, store, showroom, job sites, or customer's place of business by performing the following duties.
Essential Job Functions include the following, other activates may be assigned:
Proactively acquire new business, continually satisfy needs of existing clientele, and build lasting relationships with contractors, developers, and other target customers.
Coordinate activities with other partners in order to make sure that the best possible customer service is offered and the maximum amount of product is sold.
Responsibilities:
Job Duties must perform the following duties in order to achieve essential job functions, other duties may be assigned:
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders, or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
Visits job sites to keep contractors supplied with materials in a timely manner, or to inform contractors of any delays or problems.
Act as middle man to coordinate a building project with a home owner and a contractor
Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
Works with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
Tracks stock levels.
Coordinates customer training.
Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
Attends trade shows.

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
